Applying paint without brushes
I’ve used palette knives for seascapes before, mainly as an excuse not to clean my brushes, and a fair amount of painting ( certainlky in oils) I do with my hands. This painting was completed fairly quickly, with only 3 layers over the course of a few weeks.
I used an existing photograph I had of the Devon coast; (find photo and insert here)
I prepared the canvas with a very bright acrylic orange and kept to a fairly limited palette.
